Repair Cafés

Volunteers repair your broken things. For free.

A repair café is a community event where broken items are fixed by volunteer repairers. Time permitting, visitors can learn new skills in the process. Broken items are kept out of landfill and are given a new lease of life. The repairing is free, but parts are not included. If you know what required parts are, please bring them with you.

Most repair cafés can fix electrical items, clothing, jewelry, garden equipment, bikes and scooters, toys and wooden items, laptops, and phones. This is subject to volunteer repairer availability, so make sure you check with the organisers beforehand.

House rules

Repair cafes, like anything, run more smoothly if everyone knows what to expect. We want you to have an experience that you’re talking about for weeks. Someone who doesn’t know you has fixed your broken thing without expectation of reward and you had a nice chat and a biscuit.

What is not to love about that?

To make these sessions enjoyable and safe for all, we have house rules, which you will need to agree to before meeting your repairer. They will be available on the day, but you can read there here at your leisure. If you have any questions, let us know.
