Would a standing Citizens’ Assembly help the ACT?

  • CAPaD 6 Parkinson Street Weston, Australian Capital Territory, 2611 Australia (map)

Have your say, Canberra 🗣️

On 16 November, four MLAs from across the political spectrum will join Prof. Yves Dejaeghere — one of the architects of East Belgium’s permanent Citizens’ Assembly — to explore one question:

Would a standing Citizens’ Assembly help the ACT?

We will be joined by:

  • Chiaka Barry MLA (Liberal) — Member for Ginninderra, Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

  • Taimus Werner-Gibbings MLA (Labor) - Member for Brindabella and Labor Whip.

  • Andrew Braddock MLA (Greens) - Member for Yerrabi, Deputy Speaker and Deputy Leader of the ACT Greens.

  • Fiona Carrick MLA (Independent) - Member for Murrumbidgee.

Guiding the conversation will be Genevieve Jacobs AM — one of Canberra’s best-known media and community voices. A journalist for 30 years across print, radio and digital media, and now CEO of Hands Across Canberra.

There’s a panel. But there’s no sidelines.

You’re not coming to watch a conversation about citizen participation. You’re coming to be part of it and shape what deeper democracy in Canberra could look like.

Bring your questions. Bring your ideas. Bring your voice
