Kambah Garden open day is back

Here’s a chance to stock up on your seedlings for Canberra’s summer growing season.

Kambah Community Garden – one of 13 community gardens managed by the Canberra

This year is also special as the open day will mark the 25th anniversary of the garden’s opening on the corner of O’Halloran Circuit and Springbett Street (next to the Kambah Woolshed).

The open day will be selling vegetable, herb and flower seedlings organically propagated by the gardeners themselves. As well, there will be presentations by enthusiastic food grower and Urban Farm manager at Café Stepping Stone Fiona Buining, and horticulturist and garden writer Jackie Warburton,

Fiona is the author of the COGS growing guides and will talk about the Plant Health Pyramid, which explains how well-nourished plants build natural immunity and resistance against pests and diseases.

With over 20 years’ experience in the horticultural industry, Jackie will share how you can propagate plants for free.

There will also be market stalls, a sausage sizzle, a coffee, tea and cake stall, a kids’ corner and a raffle.

Part of the proceeds from the day will be donated to the food rescue organisation OzHarvest.
