Circular Fashion: What Fashion Teaches Us About Systems Change
Clothing is one of the clearest examples of how the system of production and consumption needs to change.
The dominant linear system of production and consumption of clothing has led to huge environmental and social impacts. How can we change this? Could fashion become instead the world's most compelling example of systems transformation?
Join us for our August’s Impact Hour with Julie Boulton, President of the Canberra Environment Centre and one of Australia's leading experts on circular fashion. Here, she'll explore how redesigning the fashion system can help create a more just and sustainable future for people and planet.
In this thought-provoking talk at Dissent Bar & Cafe, Julie will explore:
What circular fashion means and why it's about redesigning the entire system, not simply buying second-hand or recycling clothes.
What it will take to create real change from industry innovation and government policy to business leadership and community action, and the collective action needed to build a circular economy.
Whether you work in sustainability, business, government, design, or you're simply curious about how meaningful change happens, you'll leave with a new perspective on fashion, not as a consumer issue, but as one of the defining sustainability challenges of our time.
